Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Headquarters (HQ) and Corporate
Mikel D. Slater is the Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Cable Headquarters (HQ) and Corporate at Comcast. In this role, Mikel provides strategic HR leadership, consultation, and coordination for developing and executing the human resources strategy for all Cable HQ and Corporate teams in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of each function.
Mikel has a global HR background with extensive experience in strategic planning, change management, talent and performance management, labor relations, employee, and workforce development, and engagement. He has supported teammates internationally including in locations across the Americas, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
Mikel joined Comcast in 2015 with more than 17 years of leadership experience. He has served in senior HR roles at Fortune 500 companies, including OPmobility (Plastic Omnium Inc.), where he served as Vice President of Human Resources, Americas for their Auto Inergy Division, and Meritor Inc., where he was Vice President of Global Human Resources (HQ) & Talent Acquisition.
A native of Battle Creek, MI, Mikel earned a bachelor’s degree in Interpersonal Communication with a minor in Business Marketing from Eastern Michigan University and a master’s degree in Human Resources Management from the University of Phoenix. Mikel is a member of NAMIC (National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communication) and attended NAMIC’s UVA Darden Business School Executive Leadership Development Program (Class XVI) Mikel is also a member of the Southfield (MI) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc.
