Virtual Climb for a Cure 2020
Join us on August 15 to cumulatively reach ONE MILLION steps in honor of the over one million colorectal cancer survivors across America.
Fight CRC remains committed to our mission as champions of hope for everyone affected by colorectal cancer while responding to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic as it unfolds. Much of our community is immunocompromised, which has led us to make the 5th-annual Climb for a Cure a virtual event. We’re here to support and protect you during this unprecedented time.
Having trouble registering? Check out our handy guides below!
Climbing a mountain requires the same grit and determination it takes to face your own cancer diagnosis or the diagnosis of a friend or loved one.
Climb for a Cure participants take bold action against colorectal cancer by:
- Advocating for vital research to find a cure
- Empowering patients and families
- Arming people with knowledge to help them make informed decisions about their health
- Raising awareness about the importance of colorectal cancer screening
“This climb was a personal best for me. To be part of such a large group, to receive encouragement and camaraderie, it was wonderful. They pushed me further than I would have gone on my own. I am afraid of heights and this climb helped me!”JULIE KRAUSS – STAGE IV SURVIVOR

Climb for a Cure reminds us that we are strong and we are in control of our lives. We are determined to prevent colon and rectal cancers from not only changing our lives, but also the lives of others. Each step you take will lead us closer to a cure. Every dollar, drop of sweat, and achy muscle will fuel cutting edge research, lifesaving awareness, and advocacy for survivors dealing with colon and rectal cancers right now. For many, cancer is the biggest mountain they face. Climb for a Cure 2020 will make that challenge feel a little easier and less scary for so many.
What’s New in 2020?
This year we’re taking a new approach to Climb for a Cure and ways our community can engage with one another. Due to coronavirus (COVID-19) and the mandatory stay-at-home orders from many state governments, we’re asking Climb participants to stay close to home and get outside in a way that’s safe, socially distant, and adheres to local ordinances.
The vision for this year’s Climb for a Cure is for our entire community of Relentless Champions to come together virtually on August 15th and collectively reach one million steps to represent the more than one million colorectal cancer survivors across America.
How Can You Join Us?
Complimentary registration will open on May 8th. Once you’ve registered you will be prompted to create a personal fundraising page, where you can set your own fundraising goal should you choose to fundraise on behalf of Fight CRC.
*During these unprecedented times, Fight CRC is mindful of the hardships many are enduring due to coronavirus (COVID-19), and has omitted the minimum fundraising amount to participate in the 2020 Climb for a Cure.
We’ll use the Strava app to track our steps and mileage throughout the summer, culminating on Climb Day on August 15th. On that Saturday, we ask you to get active, get moving and hit your goal for the day! We’ll also be sharing stories and experiences through the Climb for a Cure Facebook group, so make sure to click that link and join us!

Climb for a Cure's Impact
Over the past four years, Climb for a Cure has grown from a group of 15 people to nearly 130 advocates gathering together to climb a Colorado peak. The Climb has raised over $175,000 to support Fight CRC’s efforts in colorectal cancer advocacy, patient education, and research. It’s your time now. Become a Relentless Climber and help us reach our goal of $100,000!
Chris Ganser Scholarship
The Chris Ganser Climb for a Cure Scholarship was created in loving memory of Chris Ganser, a co-founder of the Climb, a relentless champion for FightCRC, a husband, a father and a friend. Chris passed away in the summer of 2018 at the age of 40 but we commit to carrying on his legacy with every mountain we climb. The Climb would not be what it is today without his vision and inspiration.
Each year, Fight CRC selects two scholarship winners to attend the Climb for a Cure event. Flights and lodging are covered by the scholarship but food and other expenses are the responsibility of the scholarship winners. This year, due to Covid-19, the in-person Climb has been postponed until a safer time, however we are still opening the application and will select two winners for this year’s virtual Climb. We are also extending the benefits (flight + lodging) of the scholarship to apply to the Climb in 2021.
