Colorectal cancer has changed nearly every part of my life—and unfortunately, this isn’t my first time fighting it. This is my third battle, and this time I am facing Stage III colon cancer while also learning to live with insulin-dependent diabetes.

The hardest part hasn’t only been hearing the word “cancer” again. It’s knowing what that word means for my wife, my family, and the life we’re trying to build while preparing for chemotherapy, surgery, recovery, and an entirely different normal.

There are days when I am scared. Days when I am angry. Days when I am exhausted from fighting. But I have also learned that strength doesn’t always look like being fearless. Sometimes strength is simply getting up the next morning and deciding you’re still in the fight.

My wife and I have started sharing my journey.
