Age at Diagnosis: 28
"Take life one day at a time and never lose faith."
At 28 years old, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer after only having stomach pain for two days before going to a local walk in clinic. I truly thought it was something minor, but testing revealed a mass in my colon that had already spread to my liver and lungs. My colon was nearly obstructed at diagnosis, and my life changed overnight.
Since then, I’ve undergone surgeries, hospitalizations, and ongoing chemotherapy treatments. There have been moments of hope and moments of progression that forced treatment changes, but I continue to fight every day as a wife and mom.
I’ve also taken my fight beyond myself by advocating at the Capitol for earlier detection and hosting a colorectal cancer walk in my community to raise awareness and encourage screenings, especially for younger adults.
