Colon - Stage IV |
Age at Diagnosis: 40
In November 2024, I got home from work and was making dinner for my two kids. I had this feeling of nausea and urgency ran through my body. I had a sensation that I may pass out. Something was seriously wrong.
I drove myself to the ER. I had a CT scan within 30 minutes of being in there.
A blockage in my bowel, caused by a tumor, with subsequent lesions on my liver; stage IV liver cancer at age 40.
First step was colostomy. Following that was 3 months of chemo, a second opinion on surgical options. Then I was scheduled for a liver resection, colostomy take down, and removal of some nodes. At 6 months I had a portal vein embolization, at 7 months the final surgery was complete. I am currently finishing chemo.
The year has been enlightening, hard, and unimaginable. It has been amazing to see who has shown up.
