Colon - Stage III |
Age at Diagnosis: 32
I was 32, a wife and mother of two young daughters. I had every symptom. Fatigue, weight loss, pencil like stool, blood, pain. Every Dr. brushed it off as hemorrhoids. It was crushing that no one would help me. I finally found a GI Dr. that listened to me & scheduled me for a colonoscopy. They found a tennis ball sized tumor in my colon. A week later I had surgery to remove the tumor, the sigmoid section of my colon and surrounding lymph nodes. The biopsy results showed stage 3 colon cancer and I knew I had to be strong for my daughters and fight for my life. Telling them was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. I did 12 rounds of chemotherapy. I still have lasting side effects from the chemo but it’s a small price to pay to be able to be living this life. I am currently 10 years cancer free, as of July 8, 2025!
