I started showing physical symptoms in June 2023. After several doctor visits and multiple minsdiagnosises, a friend who just happened to be a G.I. doctor at a big hospital in town offered to give me a second opinion. Once I sat down with her and discussed my symptoms, she immediately scheduled me for a colonoscopy, which then led to a rectal ultrasound, which finally led to me waking up to stage three rectal cancer diagnosis. The whole process was like a whirlwind, and everything went really quickly and aggressively. I immediately had a port put in and started treatment process of both radiation and chemo at the same time; I ended up doing two full rounds of chemo and one full round of radiation. Even though I’m now NED & active recovery, how I feel about everything changes daily.
