My boyfriend (now fiancé!) Thomas was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in November 2022 at the age of 37. We met in May 2022 and had just moved in together one month before his diagnosis. I’m a genetic counselor by training and I wasn’t concerned Thomas had cancer— he has no family history after all. I was sure it was ulcerative colitis since he had all the symptoms of that. Unfortunately, that was not the case. We were both living and working in Seattle, but the day Thomas was diagnosed he realized he needed to move back to Denver, CO to be closer to his children and I told him I was going with him. Just 3 weeks later we packed 12 suitcases, hopped a plane and moved to an Airbnb in Denver on Thanksgiving Eve 2022. To this day, our love continues to conquer all! Thomas has been NED for 6 months.
