Age at Diagnosis: 42

My husband, Matthew, was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer at age 42 with no family history and in the best physical shape of his life. He was passionate about his health and also CrossFit. He had just taken full ownership of our gym three months prior to diagnosis. He had noticed some bleeding and it was presumed to be hemorrhoids. The colonoscopy did not happen as soon as it should have for many reasons. Two days after the procedure, he was in surgery to remove the large tumor that was at the junction of his colon and rectum. It had already spread to his liver, his lung, and his lymph nodes. Imagine the shock and pain that comes with such a harsh diagnosis. Everyone has a different path, but Matt was not going out without a fight. His strength and resilience had us in awe.

We lost him on 4/5/24.
