"Love"
In 2006, shortly after lunch with friends, my dad’s stomach starting hurting. By that evening, he went to the ER. The drs. thought diverticulitis, but as they put him under for surgery, his heart stopped. He was flown to a bigger hospital where they diagnosed colon cancer and septic shock.
The cancer had eaten through his intestines. His dcotors fought hard for his life. He never spoke or was aware again, but I know he fought. 21 days later, after repeated surgeries, strokes, and a heart attack, the doctors said the fight was over. 21days, almost to the hour, from his first symptom, he was removed from life support. A tear rolled down his cheek, he snored a few adorable snores (the 1st sound he’d made in 21 days) and he was gone.
He was the best daddy. We miss him, and he missed so very much.
