In November 2021, my dad, Michael, was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. The news shocked our family as he had really had no major symptoms and had gone in for a screening because of a persistent cough. Once diagnosed, he immediately began exploring every option to extend his time with us, undergoing chemotherapy, surgeries and radiation. Through it all, he never let the disease diminish his spirit. He stayed positive, rarely complained and focused on supporting our family and friends. He chose to live fully, spending his time traveling and making memories with those he loved. With the help of dedicated doctors and his unwavering mindset, we were given just over four years with him, far beyond the six months we were first told to expect.
