For many years I struggled with digestive issues. I just continued to treat each symptom as it arrived, NEVER thinking that it could be CANCER. When I was 41, I started seeing blood in my stool. Doctors figured it had to hemmhroids, as I was way too young for Colorectal cancer, and my father could star in a commercial for hemmhroid cream. After cancelling my first colonoscopy when my symptoms subsided, the blood came back, and with a little nudge from my husband, I rescheduled my appointment. Immediately after my colonoscopy I was given the dreadful news and was sent straight to another floor for a CT scan. If I had to use one word to explain this experience, it would be overwhelming. A week later my port was inserted and treatment began….
