Michael E. Frierson

Director

Michael Frierson graduated from Cal Poly Pomona in 1979 with a BS degree in kinesiology. After a brief stint with the Seattle Mariners professional baseball team, Michael spent 35 years as a healthcare professional in both the pharmaceutical and ESRD realm. In his 35 years, he held several positions ranging from:

  • Senior Director of Joint Ventures – Fresenius Medical Care
  • Director of Sales and CKD – Fresenius Medical Care/Spectra Labs
  • Director of Managed Care – Fresenius Medical Care/Spectra Labs
  • Director of New Business Ventures – Fresenius Medical Care/Spectra Labs
  • Associate Director of Sales – Spectra Labs
  • Senior Regional Manager – Spectra Labs
  • Dialysis Sales Specialist – Erica/National Medical Care
  • Sales Representative – Pfizer Laboratories

Michael has a proven record as it pertains to advocating for our younger generation. His involvement with Spectra Laboratory in helping getting younger people hired into middle and senior management positions helped improve the productivity of the organization. 

Michael also volunteered his time with the Major League Baseball Urban Youth Academy in Compton, California. The main purpose of the Academy was to introduce young people of color to career opportunities associated with professional baseball. He helped to increase the visibility of young African American players with the potential to play at the major league level.

  • Board Member California Collegiate League
  • Founder of the Academy Barons Summer Collegiate Team
  • Responsible for placing MLB Urban Youth Academy Teams, into the California Collegiate League.
  • Increased visibility of African American youths to play baseball at the Collegiate Level

Michael’s oldest son Michael Geoffrey Frierson, was diagnosed with Colon Cancer at age 32.  After a 5-year battle with complications associated with Colorectal Cancer, he died at age 37. This was the motivating factor for his advocacy. A promise made to his son, to make sure no one under the age of 45 dies from complications associated with colorectal cancer.  Michael is retired and is excited about working with Fight CRC to raise awareness and increase access to screenings.
