Michell

Michell Baker is the Vice President of Philanthropy for Fight Colorectal Cancer. Michell is an advocate at heart and has been invested in advocacy since 2009, after losing her dad to colorectal cancer in 2008.

After losing their father, Michell and her sisters knew more had to be done to prevent other families from experiencing the same tragedy. They attended Fight CRC’s annual advocacy event, Call-on Congress, in March 2009, and their mission became clear. Michell and her sisters started a nonprofit organization in Portland, Oregon in their father’s memory to focus on screening and awareness of colorectal cancer, particularly within the Black community.

In addition to her nonprofit work, Michell also co-chaired the Center for Disease Control (CDC) Colorectal Cancer Screening program in Oregon. During her five years working with the program, Oregon experienced a 10% increase in colorectal cancer screenings.

In 2014, Michell joined Fight CRC, where she cultivates relationships with individuals and organizations to establish partnership opportunities. In the last 8 years, Michell has played a crucial role in doubling Fight CRC’s annual revenue, which directly supports patients and their families and funds groundbreaking research.

Above all, Michell is an advocate who fights for quality healthcare and a cure for colorectal cancer through increased access to screening and innovative research.
