Federal Policy As the leading national colorectal cancer advocacy organization, Fight Colorectal Cancer maintains a strong year-round presence on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. Some of the Ways Fight CRC is Involved in Federal Advocacy: Our advocacy team regularly meets with Members of Congress and their staff in Washington, D.C. to discuss our legislative goals and priorities, and to strategize ways we can work together to implement positive policy change. Some of Our Big Advocacy Wins: The House passed the Removing Barriers to Colorectal Cancer Screening Act, legislation that would remove out of pocket costs for Medicare patients who undergo a colonoscopy and have polyps removed Fight CRC directed the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to dedicate more research to early age onset colorectal cancer Advocacy efforts resulted in increased funding for life-saving medical research for colorectal cancer at the National Institute of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute (NCI), and the Department of Defense’s Peer-Reviewed Cancer Research Program (DoD PRCRP) HOW TO GET INVOLVED Come to Washington, D.C. and meet with your representatives or contact them from home. Register as an Advocate Call-On Congress Every March, Fight CRC advocates and their families head to Washington, D.C. for Call-on Congress, a three-day event that culminates in a trip to Capitol Hill where advocates meet with Members of Congress and their legislative staff to share their stories and discuss the policy issues most important to the colorectal cancer community.
