Joy_Henderson Share-StoryHow do YOU define One Million Strong? Each of the one million colorectal cancer survivors is strong and can make a difference, but together we are one million strong and can multiply the difference we can make individually by more than a million. Where have you drawn strength? I have drawn strength from several different sources.  First and foremost is my faith in God.  I have also drawn strength from the cancer support group which I co-founded at my church, as well as from my family and friends.  Another source is from on-line support groups and from knowledge of the latest treatment options. Who is your champion? My friend Shanie is a 5-year Stage IV colon cancer survivor.  She has never missed work other than for surgeries and is currently in treatment.  She is so strong and has a very strong faith in God.  She is amazing and is a great role model for her three children.  The two of us founded a cancer support group at our church. What is one piece of advice you would like to share with others? My colon cancer was diagnosed very early, at stage I.  I was diagnosed after my first screening colonoscopy.  I had absolutely no symptoms.  Since my colon resection surgery, I have been cancer-free.  I did not undergo chemo or radiation.  I want others to know that colorectal cancer is curable when caught early, so get tested if you are over 50 or have any symptoms or a family history of colorectal cancer. I AM faithful, a volunteer, a warrior! I AM a 7-year colon cancer survivor! I AM STRONG! Want to share your story? Submit yours today!
