Bunny Terry cannot be described in a single word: She’s a fierce advocate for cancer patients. She runs a successful marketing and coaching business and sells residential property in Santa Fe, New Mexico. And, she is author of the witty, uplifting and inspiring book Lifesaving Gratitude, How Gratitude Helped Me Beat Stage IV Cancer.

Bunny was living happily in her heart’s home of Santa Fe, looking for love, feeling healthy and good about herself, and settling in to put words to paper with a specifically thought out novel. Then she was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer.

After feeling sick to her stomach while on a blind date, Bunny was surprised to learn she had a 5.5cm tumor, which had perforated her colon wall and was bleeding out, and a tumor on her liver. Almost a year later, following chemotherapy, surgery, and more chemotherapy, Bunny was declared “No Evidence of Disease,” or as those in our community like to call it, "NED."

While her colon cancer diagnosis changed the trajectory of that novel, through her writing, which never stopped, Bunny realized and felt the power of gratitude. As Bunny moved through her illness, treatment, and recovery, she found that gratitude was not only a theme, but it was her lifesaver.

Bunny became involved with Fight Colorectal Cancer (Fight CRC), which was a huge part in her journey and allowed her to find her purpose as an advocate. Bunny says, “I talk a lot about Fight CRC in my book because it really was a huge influence on me.” Bunny shares her story to give hope to someone who might benefit from her “scary, funny, and surprisingly positive experience.”

Bunny’s continues advocacy through Fight CRC and as vice-chair of the Board of Directors for the Cancer Foundation for New Mexico. In addition to her book, she also hosts a podcast where she interviews guests who also live lives of gratitude. Bunny is “passionate about making lives better through storytelling and gratitude.”

“This podcast and book have been such a labor of love for me, but I know the hard work isn't done! I need to make sure as many people as possible get to read and share in my experience. My hope is that I can help others by sharing what I have been through,” Bunny says.

Bunny lives happily in Santa Fe with her husband, Toby. She is at work on a second book Where I Come From and while continuing to survive and thrive, Bunny is a relentless champion of hope.
