Caregivers Stage IV Colon Cancer Texas
Back to Champion Stories

"In 2003 I got a phone call that no child wants to get. 'Dad has cancer.' He fought for seven years, but he never went into remission. I know that he kept going for us. Two years before he passed, my big brother was also diagnosed. He was 40.

When Jeff was diagnosed was when we all found out about Lynch Syndrome. I lost my daddy in January 2010, at 66 years old. I lost Jeff three weeks later at age 42. I was 28. I had my first colonoscopy two months later.

I miss my dad and my brother every single day."

Advice: "Be patient with your loved ones that are undergoing treatment. Be patient with yourself. It’s OK to have your bad days, too. Lean on your friends and family for support; they want to help. Soak up as much time as possible making good memories, even in the bad times. Keep fighting!"
