Age at Diagnosis: 49

My mom was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 1976. She passed away at age 49. I was 16 when she died. I started getting colonoscopies at age 35, and I am now 59 years old. I have a sister who had never had a colonoscopy. She was diagnosed with stage iv colorectal cancer at 59 years old. She has been fighting for her life for three years. Unfortunately, there are no more treatment options for her. She had a colonoscopy scheduled a few years before her diagnosis but cancelled it.

Colorectal screenings are so critical in prevention. They are not the most pleasant screenings, but they can save your life! Eat well, exercise, don’t smoke, and get screened!
