Ann Ogden Gaffney Founder, Cook for Your Life Ann is a two-time cancer survivor with a passion for food and cooking. Her food is both delicious and simple. Ann is a James Beard nominated cookbook author and a Dame D’Escoffier. Until it became part of the Fred Hutch in July 2019, Ann had been the driving force behind non-profit Cook for Your LIFE. From the moment she realized during her own treatment that there was a huge knowledge gap for patients between the facts of clinical nutrition and their application in the home kitchen, using her cooking skills and knowledge of food to erase it has become Ann’s passion. She developed multi-class hands-on formats for Cook for Your LIFE in both English and Spanish designed to make cooking and eating a healthy, plant forward diet accessible to all regardless of skills or budget, in particular to NYC’s underserved cancer communities. These classes morphed into bilingual subscription free healthy cooking website to bring plant forward eating to cancer patients and their families. Ann’s bilingual programs led to her collaboration with Dr. Heather Greenlee working with Hispanic breast cancer survivors, first at Columbia, and now at the Fred Hutch. Ann is now excited to be bringing her knowledge and experience to the team as a consultant including to the Hutch’s ongoing Cooking and Moving for Life project. Ann also offers private online Zoom classes featuring her easy, healthy food philosophy.
